Guess where is this place?
The picture above is NOT taken in France but somewhere in Malaysia called Bukit Tinggi. You will be surprised and amazed by this little French-themed village & resort "Colmar Tropicale".
Colmar Tropicale is situated at Berjaya Hills, Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, Malaysia. Bukit means hill and Tinggi means high in Malay language, which best describes the resort that settled at 2,700 feet above sea-level amidst 80 acres of rainforests.
Temperature varies according to topographic variations with an average temperature drop of 6 C for every 1000m gain in altitude. The climate at Bukit Tinggi is much cooler and refreshing compare to the hot weather of Malaysia tropical plain. You will also see a few flora that only grows at high altitude like pine trees and bamboo along the road winding up the hill. What awaits you at the end of the road is the Chateau (Castle in French)
After passing the Chateau, you will see a bridge with blue, white and red flags that represent the flag colour of France. Although the bridge is not long but it will surely take you some time as this is the best sight to take photo of the whole picture of Colmar Tropicale.
Welcome to the land of romance, even the name Colmar Tropicale sounds romantic. The whole idea and the design of this resort is inspired by the original Colmar Village in Alsace, France. "Tropicale" seems to be the best word to discribe this fairyland in a tropical country.
If you're here for holiday or honeymoon, check in at the concierge on your left of the village entrance. You will see a big clock on your right with "TOUR DE L'HORLOGE (clock tower in French)" written on the plaque. This is the last time you check the time before you start to enjoy the atmosphere and romance of this place.
Although Colmar Tropicale is a very young village resort (builted in year 2000) compare to the real Colmar Village in France which is builted in 16th century, it still has everything the later has, and even more and better.
The buildings in the village is unique and beautiful in different colours. This is because, like the original Colmar Village, Colmar Tropicale also adopted the concept of colours of nature. Blue as the sky, green as the grass, purple as the lavendar, pink as the rose, brown as the earth, and white as the sand. With all different kind of colours, they look perfectly match under the sun.
Just simply walk around and you will find many interesting things.
