Kukup Island - fascinating mangrove paradise

A lot of  people might not have heard of this island, including Malaysians themselves. But this is a very nice place to visit at the Southern part of Johor, Malaysia. Just like the shape of the island: THUMBS UP!!

Pulau Kukup (Kukup Island), being the Southmost island of Malaysia, is situated not far away from the Kukup township. One can access to this island via visitors boat that goes regularly between the mainland and the island.

You will see a loooooonnnng bridge leading you all the way to the heart of the island. That's where you gonna start your adventure and discovery into the nature. Ladies, don't freak out. It's ONLY 600 metres starting from here and will only take you about an hour to finish walking the main route.

For those of you who likes to venture into nature, walking through the suspension bridge itself is already quite fun, not to say that sometimes you will get to "walk along" with the monkeys. Along the bridge you will see the sturdy mangroves expand their greenery to see who's the first to reach the other side of the river bank.
Did I mention about MONKEYS?
Yes,  you'll see a lot of monkeys swinging around the trees as you'll be entering their territory. Besides monkeys, you will get to see a lot of mangrove unique flora & fauna too. If you're lucky enough, you will get to see the biggest animal on this island - the wild boar. Birds, mudskipper, horseshoe crab, and varies type of crabs are visible throughout the walk way.

Pulau Kukup gains its name on the globad map by being the Wetland of International Importance Ramsar Site. It is also one of the largest uninhabitated mangrove island in the world. Hence it is gazetted as Pulau Kukup Johor National Park on 27 March 1991.

You can have a 360 degree view from the top of the tower, which is the highest building on Kukup Island. You will see a vast exuberant untouched mangrove trees covering the whole island, forming a good and safe habitat for the flora and fauna here.
If you haven't really seen a mangrove habitat in your life, here is the place. Come before the climate changing destroys our nature.
